Gallagher is a Tottenham player
Gallagher ends his spell at Atlético Madrid and returns to the Premier League after signing for Tottenham. The English midfielder leaves the Spanish side after 77 appearances, having failed to secure a regular starting role under Diego Simeone.
The British footballer leaves Atlético Madrid after a season and a half and returns to the Premier League.
Connor Gallagher returns to London. Following the agreement reached between Atlético Madrid and Tottenham, the English midfielder ends his spell with the Colchoneros after 77 games defending the red and white shirt.
Atlético Madrid thus recovers the investment made in the summer of 2024 when it signed Gallagher from Chelsea. Under Diego Pablo Simeone, the English international has scored seven goals, but leaves without having won any titles.
Without being important, the World Cup was in danger
Despite being a hard-working midfielder with a lot of experience, Connor Gallagher has not managed to become a regular in Simeone's line-ups. Last season, his performance was inconsistent, starting off well but without being undisputed and seeing Pablo Barrios win the battle for the starting spot.
This season, he has played in every game, but the arrival of Johnny Cardoso has relegated him to the background. Tottenham's offer was too good to refuse for Atlético Madrid, who recouped their investment in a player who had failed to secure a starting spot. Back in London after his previous spell at Chelsea, the midfielder will be looking to show his best form to earn a place in England's World Cup squad.
