Mohamed Salah leaves Liverpool

After nine seasons, the Egyptian legend will leave Anfield Road to embark on new adventures.

Mohamed Salah announced on 24 March that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season. The Egyptian forward arrived at Anfield Road in 2017 from Roma, and in almost a decade he has won every possible title with Liverpool. His performances have been outstanding, and although this season has not been his best, the Reds’ supporters count him among their finest players of the 21st century.

His honours list as a Liverpool player is spectacular. He has won everything, with a total of nine titles. Of particular note are the two Premier League titles, following three decades in which the Anfield Road club had been unable to be crowned league champions in England. He also won the 2019 Champions League at the Metropolitano in Madrid against Tottenham, on one of the most magical nights in Liverpool’s recent history.

Salah’s honours with Liverpool

  • 2 Premier League titles (2019/2020 and 2024/2025)
  • 1 Champions League title (2018/2019)
  • 1 FA Cup (2021/2022)
  • 2 EFL Cups (2021/2022 and 2023/2024)
  • 1 UEFA Super Cup (2019)
  • 1 FIFA Club World Cup (2019)
  • 1 Community Shield (2022)

Bidding farewell in style

The Egyptian striker, who will represent his country at the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States, can still add to his trophy haul as a Liverpool player. Despite failing to win the EFL Cup and with the Premier League title out of reach with seven games remaining, Arne Slot’s side can still secure a double that would make for a magnificent season.

In fact, after the international break, they will play the FA Cup quarter-final at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City. If they get through that tie, they will head to Wembley, where they will be among the favourites to lift the trophy. In the Champions League, they will also play in the quarter-finals. Their opponents will be PSG, offering a chance for revenge after last year’s defeat on penalties.

They will play the first leg against Luis Enrique’s side in Paris and the return leg at Anfield Road. If they progress, the winner of the tie between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich awaits them in the semi-finals, with the first leg at Anfield Road and the return leg in Munich or Madrid. In the final, they would face Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Sporting Lisbon or Arsenal. In the Premier League, the aim is to finish in the top five to qualify for the Champions League.
