The quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey have been decided
The draw held on Monday 19 January at the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation determined the pairings for the quarter-finals of the Cup. Albacete, the only representative from the Second Division, will face Barcelona.
The Copa del Rey is reaching its climax and the quarter-final fixtures are now known. This is the last knockout round to be played as a single match before the final, which will take place at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville. The Andalusian capital will also host a quarter-final fixture between Betis and Atlético de Madrid.
The most eagerly awaited match will be played at the Carlos Belmonte. There, Albacete eliminated Real Madrid in the round of 16, in the biggest surprise of the competition. And now they will host Barcelona, the reigning champions and favourites to retain the title. The other two matches will be Valencia vs Athletic at Mestalla and the Basque derby between Real Sociedad and Alavés at Mendizorroza.
