On Wednesday night, the eyes of the football world will be on Montjuic, where Barcelona will host Paris Saint-Germain in a titanic clash between two of the favourites for the title in Matchday 2 of the Champions League League Phase.

In a match that will be full of stars such as Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, Barcola and Vitinha, despite the notable absences from both teams in the form of Marquinhos, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Pablo Gavi and Raphinha, there are also two players who will be present and go unnoticed despite the two great runs they are on.

For the French side, Kang-in Lee is the player who currently has the most consecutive victories in European competition, with a total of seven consecutive matches taking all three points, a streak he shares with Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, who has not played since 2024.

The South Korean striker, who is sure to get some playing time against the Catalans due to the aforementioned absences, began his winning streak in December 2024 against Salzburg. Following the victory against the Austrian side, Kang-in Lee claimed victories against Manchester City (January 2025), Stuttgart (January 2025), Brest (home and away in February 2025), Liverpool (March 2025) and most recently, against Atalanta in September 2025.

As for Barcelona, the Catalan side has Marc Casado in their ranks, who is currently the second player with the longest unbeaten streak in the competition with a total of 10 matches. Since the 'Cules' beat Young Boys in October 2024, the Spanish midfielder has added another nine matches without losing to date: Bayern Munich (October 2024), Red Star Belgrade (November 2024), Brest (November 2024), Dortmund (December 2024), Benfica (January 2025), Atalanta (January 2025), Benfica (home and away in March 2025) and most recently, the victory in this season's opening match against Newcastle in September 2025.

The academy graduate, who is less likely to play in Wednesday night's match than Kang-in Lee, is second in the ranking of current players with the most consecutive games without defeat in the Champions League behind Rodri, who has a whopping 22. The midfielder, winner of last year's Ballon d'Or, suffered his last defeat in the competition in May 2022 after losing the second leg of the 2021/22 Champions League semi-finals to Real Madrid 3-1, in that epic comeback at the Santiago Bernabeu with a late brace from Rodrygo.

Although Rodri also played when Real Madrid eliminated the Sky Blues in the quarter-finals of the 2023/24 Champions League, the 'Merengues' failed to claim victory in regular time against the English team, doing so instead in a penalty shootout, meaning it does not count as a defeat in the Spanish player's unbeaten streak.
