Despite initially trailing after a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo, the home side mounted a superb second-half comeback, converting two crucial penalties to clinch a hard-fought victory in a pulsating derby that also featured significant VAR intervention and the sending off of Al-Nassr's goalkeeper.

The contest commenced at a blistering pace, with Al-Hilal asserting their dominance with an immediate high press from the opening minutes. In the 12th minute, Al Aqidi almost gifted an opportunity when he inadvertently passed possession straight to Darwin Nunez, much to the chagrin of the opposition dugout. However, Al-Hilal's pressure soon intensified dramatically: in the 10th minute of the second half, Malcom was felled by Simakan inside the penalty area, and Salem Al-Dawsari stepped up to confidently convert the ensuing penalty, restoring parity.

The dramatic comeback was then completed in the 35th minute of the second half: Ruben Neves delivered a dangerous cross into the box, and after a scramble, the rebound fell kindly to Mohammed Kanno, who prodded home to nudge Al-Hilal into the lead. Deep into stoppage time, in the 45th minute of the second half, Salem was upended in the box by Al Hassan, prompting the referee to point to the spot for another Al-Hilal penalty. Ruben Neves stepped up and coolly slotted home, emphatically sealing the 3-1 final scoreline.
