France are enjoying a great start to the Women's Euros, although all that glitters is not gold. If the serious injury of their star player Katoto was already bad news, even worse is what has recently come to light thanks to information from 'AFP'.

The news agency revealed on Friday that Camille Nell was found dead at her home in Turin. She was the partner of Pauline Peyraud-Magnin, the first-choice goalkeeper for France and Juventus.

Peyraud is giving everything she can to play in the Women's Euros, as the tragic news came shortly before the start of the tournament, although it did not come to light until Friday. The cause of death is not yet known.

"The family's requests have been met as far as possible. My team has been working closely with the French consulate in Milan from the beginning," said Enrico Arnaldi di Balme, the Turin prosecutor, according to AFP.

Peyraud was the first French footballer to openly acknowledge her homosexuality in 2020, when she stressed that it did not have to define her on or off the pitch. The goalkeeper had been together with Nell for several years and they were even united by PACS, a legal status in France similar to civil unions.
