
Griezmann, heading to MLS
The French player will leave Atlético Madrid at the end of this season and embark on an American adventure with Orlando City.
Following Mohamed Salah’s announcement that he will leave Liverpool at the end of this season, Atlético Madrid have issued an official statement regarding Antoine Griezmann. In it, the Madrid-based club state that the French footballer will end his association with the club at the end of this season to join Orlando City in the MLS.
Griezmann is regarded as one of the finest players in Atlético Madrid’s history. It is no surprise that he is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 211 goals in 488 appearances, and the mark he leaves after 10 seasons at the club is indelible, having taken Atlético Madrid to a higher level of competitiveness.
Furthermore, he has won three trophies: the 2014 Spanish Super Cup, the 2018 Europa League and the 2018 UEFA Super Cup. He also led Atlético Madrid to the 2016 Champions League final in a season to remember. The bitter taste is that he missed a penalty in that match, which Real Madrid went on to win on penalties.

Aiming for two more titles
This end-of-season period presents ambitious opportunities for Griezmann to bid farewell to Atlético Madrid in style. On 18 April, he will play in the Copa del Rey final at La Cartuja stadium in Seville against Real Sociedad, his former club. Capping off his time with the Rojiblancos with a title would be the icing on the cake for a player of his quality and talent.
Furthermore, Atlético Madrid are also in the Champions League quarter-finals, where they will face Barcelona. If they reach the semi-finals, they will face either Sporting CP or Arsenal, whilst in a hypothetical final their opponent would be one of Liverpool, PSG, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid. In the EA Sports La Liga, they are well on their way to securing a top-four finish.
